Regulation of Drones in Kenya

THE CIVIL AVIATION (REMOTE PILOTED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS) REGULATIONS, 2017 came into force in Kenya on 6th October 2017. They regulate the use and ownership of remotely piloted aircraft systems, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles or drones.

The Regulations restrict ownership of drones in Kenya to Kenyan citizens over 18 years old or to companies incorporated in Kenya or to the national government or county governments in Kenya.
